Musicon in Roskilde is an area where there will be a creative part of Roskilde city. The idea is that everyone has the opportunity to develop Musicon by contribute with ideas e.g. Ycity.

Musicon is an industry area (250.00m²) brought by Roskilde municipality with the intention to develop is new city part. The area is mostly open areas where there used to be a concrete industry. Now there are only a lot of big old halls, with nothing inside. 

Right now only one hall is used permanent (a concert, café and skate hall) and the Musicon secretariat is located at the area too. The rest of the Musicon area is used for temporary activities, such as Ycity. Soon will Musicon hopefully contain a rock museum, a folk school and a growth house.

The idea behind Musicon is to develop the city part by letting actors and creative entrepreneurs do experimentation and temporary activities. Musicon will be reality through creative thinking and action taking and will be the way the actions takers make it. The main focus is music and eventually Musicon will contain a lot of different activities and more permanent functions involving experience economy, art and all kinds of creative actions.

Ycity and Musicon have a lot in common, and Ycity will locate in one of the halls at Musicon. The idea that a city (or a city part) occurs when the citizens gets to develop it them self is similar for both Musicon and Ycity, and so is the focus on creative developing.
